RF Acoustic Filters and Power Amplifiers: Q1 2020 RF quarterly IP reports are out!

SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS, France – April 23, 2020 | With the rapid release of 5G, developing the next generation of smartphone is becoming more and more crucial. In Q1 2020, all the key players involved in the RF front-end (RFFE) industry are still increasing and strengthening their IP related to next gen RFFE modules with higher integration density (consequence of MIMO and carrier aggregation operations) and working frequencies (sub 6GHz and mm-waves). During this quarter, Knowmade has identified and analyzed more than 360 new inventions and 220 new granted patents related to either RF power amplifier (PA & LNA) or acoustic wave filters (AWF). In the last three months, we have noticed an intense development of the patenting activity of Samsung Electro Mechanic, Qualcomm and Murata manufacturing. These three companies have strengthened their IP portfolios related to PA and AWF and provide solutions to address key challenges such as filter packaging, high frequencies BAW filters or high frequencies LNA with enhanced isolation characteristic. In addition, other main market player such as Skyworks have seen their first patents related to BAW filters published and confirms its recent communication and shows their will to enlarge their offer to new products and applications.
